watching a watch

the last time i wore a watch was about 10 years ago. it was a cool fossils watch with a red face and you press a side button for the time to light up. if i dig around my bedroom, i might be able to find it, but i'm not going to so please use your awesome imagination instead. i thought i was so cool wearing that. so spy worthy.

then i got a cell phone and wrist watches became the thing of the past. it just didn't make sense to double time things. why strap on another accessory, pay double for another thang, when the cell phone just does it all....just does it all.

that is until about 2 years ago when i saw chanel's j12 white ceramic watch and fell head over heels in love with it. that was probably THE ONLY time that i ever thought i NEEDED a watch...that i couldn't live without one. my s.a. even brought it out for me to "try" it on, see how it fits, you know, have some fun. yeah right...she was banking on the fact that i was a weak chanel mofo.

anyways, i tried it on and indeed it is LOVELY, but the sometimes rational voice inside my head told me loudly, "YOU DON'T WEAR WATCHES! PUT IT DOWN! ARE YA NUTS?!" so i did and walked away, wimpering a little of course cuz it's just sooooooo pretty! of course, that doesn't mean i don't look at it fondly or stare like a pervert when i see one.

anyways, here's the chanel j12 with diamond markers....on another lucky chick's wrist.

and here is another version encrusted with diamonds. chanel loves to bring in different variations for this classic. this one i had to put on my sunnies when i saw it. dayaaaam my friends, dayam!

if i must say so myself, if i was to ever pick up a watch, the white ceramic chanel j12 will be the one. it just pops off your wrist. so dang hot!

a second comeback

my bag whoring days and ways got me contacts with s.a.'s all over the place, notably south coast plaza in costa mesa (the epicenter of bag orgies galore) and las vegas (holla to the lower sales tax). very often, i would get emails from my s.a.'s with pictures of bags to tempt my inner bagness and of course my wallet. ahhh, thou art foul beings with thy temptations. it's like a pimp pushing crack on their whores so they can be controlled...ugh, my wallet quivers...it really does.

recently, an s.a. just so happened to REMEMBER that i had inquired about a particular bottega veneta colored bag like FREAKIN' last year. she emailed me some news. goodness! she wrote:

"Hi bagnatic,
We received a brand new piece today, and I thought of you. This is the Sloane in Dark Bramble (looks shockingly similar to another color you once liked...)"

omg, yes i did :( i recall loving that color. i recall asking around for it when i was on my bottega veneta hunt. i recall they sold out everywhere. i recall i buried that desire for this brick red bag and made peace with it because it was gone and there was no point wanting it....and NOW you want to resurface and claim bills in my wallet that i don't have?! how dare you! how dare you!

the pics doesn't do it justice. if this bag is really "shockingly similar" to the scala colored bag i had wanted once before, then it's a delicious earthy red brick color that only looks better with age. ahhh, too bad so sad. so sad indeed...maybe it will go on sale at the end of the year and i will win a million dollars.

it takes a village to celebrate a marriage

if you haven't heard me mention this before, i am slated to attend MANY weddings this year. last night, was another one. the person getting married is the son of a family that lived in the same village as my parents back in our mother land. that's right. keeping the village relations tight. being the somewhat filial daughters that we are, my sis and i became the taxi service for the fam, driving two uncles and our parents all the way to claremont in friday rush hour traffic....effin' friday traffic. you might wonder why they did not just get married during the weekend to make it easier on their guests? that's because asians love their superstitions (though i must admit, i fobbily ascribe to them too for different things), and yesterday was 08-08-08. it was a lucky day to be married...i guess you can't discount the billions of chinese who think they are in the right.

the wedding was quaint. it was held at one of the claremont college campuses so we got slightly lost. we missed the wedding ceremony itself, but came just in time for their open bar (score!) and appetizers. i chatted with some fam, but my sis and i mostly amused ourselves by taking pictures and by drinking. i discovered a great drink that night! amaretto with milk. sooooo tasty and dessertish. by the time we got seated, i alreay had 3 drinks. by the end of the night, i had 5. yum. they must be weak or my tolerance has grown. oh my! hahahaha.

as always, i carried golden deliciousness. she is my evening bag of choice. at the wedding, i also noticed a chanel sister carrying her white caviar flap with silver hardware. she sat at the next table directly behind me so i was able to steal some shots. white bags are really pretty, but alas, i can imagine they are hard to take care of. it would be hard for me to spend that kind of money on a white bag. anyways, another wedding attended. so far, the count is three.

side view. so preeettyyy.....

full frontal. it looked like the medium size to me.

fairies, fairies, everywhere!

i mention these prada fairy bags many months ago. as expected, the design drove many prada lovas into a frenzy and a ton of things spun out from this one design. it's actually pretty cool to look at and the fairies grow on me. they are pretty darn cute. anyways, the time to snatch them up was in january but they are still great to look at. very funky and fresh.

fairies, fairies, everywhere. it does look like a work of art. very whimsical.

i'm not a playa, i just crush a lot

in 2007, when i first entered the bag world, i was already 9 months too late to procur this beauty. this is a chanel blush patent jumbo and it got released sometime in february. i've never seen it in real life, but based on the pics i've stumbled upon, or more correctly, madly searched for via the web, the patent blush is a real gem. a nice feminine piece without being too pukey pink. that is what i think ok. anyways, it's an anomaly to me because i normally disagree with patent leather very much. i think patent looks like plastic and i don't want a plastic bag...i get a ton of those already when i go grocery shopping. i also disagree with too much pink. but alas, this blush is both pink and patent...i see broken rules all over the place for this bag geek.

one of the "dangerous" things about chanel is that they never repeat the same color. ok, black will always be black, white will always be white (though there have been variations in these also), and beige will always be beige (three signature chanel colors), but everything else always varies in shade. for instance, a red can have brown undertones or blue ones, etc....if you ever liked mixing paints, you know color combinations are endless and shades in color are truly diverse too. so given the gazillions of color mixing that could be had, chanel does not reproduce the same color on the same bags. once it's gone, it's gone.

nowadays, you may be able to find this patent blush on ebay once in a while. the bidding wars on them are pretty ridiculous too. and honestly, i haven't seen it in real life so i don't ultimately know. oh wells, it's a bag to crush on, but not one to procur. i think it's pretty darling though. *sigh*

bag-o-mellow

isn't this an absolutely pretty, pretty white purse? it's a louis vuitton ivory epi jasmin and i think it's pretty hot. the shape is nice, roomie, but not too big. it's meant to be hand held or carried on the crook of your arm. the white leather is not so stark white and it's perfect for the summer. i originally saw this at an lv shop. then when i was at bloomies, i saw a shiseido saleslady carrying it and i thought, WOW, really pretty! my second thought was DANG, how much can you make working at shiseido?! i think the bag looks like a leathery marshmellow. i like it a lot. i even went as far as dropping in a lv store again to hold it for a bit...you know, model it :)

hahaha...i did not walk away with one though. not this time anyways :)

couture bike

i want a bike. i don't need a fancy one, but i do want one that will allow me to bike around silverlake so i can work off this summer padding that i've got going on. i heard a "hybrid" is a good bike for these city streets. picture this: me on a bike riding to a cafe for dessert. how chic and green is that? dang dessert can be so good but now i pay the price!

i've checked out a few bikes, you know, done my preliminary research, but i'm not willing to spend much on one. a bike IS NOT a bag so i have spending limits when it comes to that. i think there are some refurbished two wheelers without training wheels waiting for me to give it a lovely home so i shall continue searching until i find "the one."

anyways, as i researched via the internet, i came across this chanel bike. seriously, chanel made a bike. it costs 40k!! no wonder! look at those lambskin/calfskin classic flaps stuck on them!! i would never be able to comfortably ride in one of those things...i would fear crashing and scratching up those bags...or getting jacked while biking to the cafe.

i would rather have a bike with a basket and a horn. i'm old school like that.

goodness, do you see the gorgeous chanel classic flaps?!

i'm so silky

this is a mulberry tree.

it grows leaves that silkworms love to eat. once the silk worms get all fat and juicy, they spin their cocoons which people then harvest to make silk. the silk then gets made into, well, silk fabric which turns into overpriced clothes, curtains, etc...ahhh....the mulberry tree.

this is MY mulberry tree, a mulberry bayswater (yes, the design house is called mulberry. it is particularly popular in europe, england to be specific, but i think this design house has been infiltrating the american market pretty effectively. it's definitely not as popular as many of the other brands that i usually talk about, but it's getting notice). i won't be eating it and then shoot silk threads out of my ass, but i would be so super excited to get one of their bags for my bagdrobe. the bayswater pictured below is the iconic mulberry shape (though i think it's a bit like a hermes kelly shape):

another very iconic detail about mulberry is the hardware. i LOVE it! i think it's the cutest detail ever and i think the lock is called a "mailman lock." don't quote me on the name of the lock style though. do you see a little mulberry tree engraving on top? so cute!

i've been jocking this brand for a LONG time too, though i haven't made a peep about it because i was chanel, balenciaga, and bottega veneta derailed for such a long time. i recently saw someone toting a FABULOUS mulberry (not the bayswater) and it reminded me how much i dig it too. i should have asked her what style bag it was so at least i can hunt for it even though i can't purchase one anytime soon...but i did not. *sigh*

i was really close to getting this antony messenger bag though. seriously, i just want to own that hardware! hahhaha. but hardware aside, it's made of super thick, heavy leather. really sturdy bags in my opinion. but alas, i DID NOT purchase this messenger bag and i'm glad i didn't because i saw a lady at the cabazon outlet wearing one and she was tall and thin...and british possibly and it looked super yuppie and j.crew on her. that messenger bag would have done me no good...it hangs at an odd angle in my opinion and visually looks heavy.

so in my world, bagnatic digs mulberry trees just as much as silkworms do. anyways, look out for a mulberry tree on a shoulder or an arm near you. i sure do! one day..... *sigh*

tramp stamp

so if you have a tramp stamp like everybody else, then it might be a butterfly, or a flower....or a big green godzilla. come on now, show me your godzilla! j/k.

but it might also be a fairy right? britney spears anyone? i think she has a fairy tramp stamp. anyways, when i think of fairies, i think of tattoos and tinkerbell. sometimes a tattoo of tinkerbell. i also think of adults dressed up like one when they want to be skankalicious during halloween. well, regardless, when i think of fairies, i think of something very youthful and not anything i would have emblazoned on any of my current possessions.

i don't mind possessing this hot fairy bag though! this is a couture bag from prada. it's mesmerizing to me...i can imagine wearing a solid black outfit to highlight this pretty white bag with the fairy design on it. cute.

mini lins

i have very conflicting feelings about lv. part of me thinks lv is way overexposed and the fact that most people IN THIS WORLD owns a piece of it unfortunately takes away from the uniqueness of this design house. it’s not just a matter of “exclusivity,” but the idea that you can walk around anywhere and everywhere and see people toting around the same bag really makes me cringe. but then again, every once in a while, lv throws something hot out which makes me look twice.

anyways, this is the louis vuitton monogram mini lin saumur. i saw this young asian girl rocking it at a forever 30 store (hahhaha). when i saw it, i thought wow, that’s really cute. i really liked the chocolate background because it reminded me of a smooth chocolate bar. the color is oh so rich! it looked different from their other designs so i liked it. i purse stalked her for a bit and thought it was hot. i also thought the monogram lv graphics were small enough so it added to the design of the bag rather than overwhelmed it. i really dig chocolate backgrounds, hence the harajuku lovers tote. must be my sweet tooth influencing my bag taste.

this bag is a small messenger bag which brings it to the casual side of a bag life. i think it would make a good replacement for my black lesportsac nylon canvas bag if i ever have any intentions of upgrading. unfortunately, the price for this saumur is outrageous! it’s not even leather for gosh sakes! it is made of cotton and canvas with bits of leather trimming. it’s like their denim line…i CANNOT justify paying outrageous prices for cotton. i don’t care WHO designs it.

i can’t quite make up my mind whether i love lv or i’m annoyed by it. maybe it depends on the bag and who rocks it…but the mini lin design i like. this bag would make a GREAT casual bag if the price wasn't so out of control!
