yo scp, yeah you know me!

true to my bagnatic name, during this past labor day weekend, i HAD to drop by bottega veneta at south coast plaza to take a looksie. i wanted to see if that dark bramble sloane that my s.a. had sent me pictures of was indeed that elusive scala color that i had once searched far and wide for. funny how memories work, but the color did not wow me when i first saw it again. in fact, i asked her to pull out other bags like the ebano "new ball bag" and an ebano veneta to model because i was over it....UNTIL...the s.a. suggested that we take the dark bramble outside of the store so we could stand under natural sunlight to admire this bottega beauty. oh how the colors shimmered!! oh how my feelings changed!! it's like different shades of dusty pink rose petals weaved into this gorgeous leather bag. the leather is buttery soft too as all bottegas are known for and i found that all my bag thoughts ended in this one word HEAVENLY....it was a truly seductive bag indeed. did i buy it?! ?

no. not right there anyways....KIDDING.

with my tiffany pendant damaged wallet, i walked away. but i looked back every few steps i took like bobby brown or like a lover bidding adieu to her beau at the train station. when will we meet again dark bramble? when? anyways, i roamed about south coast plaza as usual because it is a great place to purse watch, purse stalk, and purse molest if you love leather baggy babies as much as i do. chanels are a dime a dozen there since all you see are rail thin asian chicks strutting about with their chanels...though i must say jumbolicious was the only jumbo hanging around that day and she was fun to tote.

i ran across an interesting art installation...heels made from canned goods. would you rather have this or a pair of christian louboutins?

a second comeback

my bag whoring days and ways got me contacts with s.a.'s all over the place, notably south coast plaza in costa mesa (the epicenter of bag orgies galore) and las vegas (holla to the lower sales tax). very often, i would get emails from my s.a.'s with pictures of bags to tempt my inner bagness and of course my wallet. ahhh, thou art foul beings with thy temptations. it's like a pimp pushing crack on their whores so they can be controlled...ugh, my wallet quivers...it really does.

recently, an s.a. just so happened to REMEMBER that i had inquired about a particular bottega veneta colored bag like FREAKIN' last year. she emailed me some news. goodness! she wrote:

"Hi bagnatic,
We received a brand new piece today, and I thought of you. This is the Sloane in Dark Bramble (looks shockingly similar to another color you once liked...)"

omg, yes i did :( i recall loving that color. i recall asking around for it when i was on my bottega veneta hunt. i recall they sold out everywhere. i recall i buried that desire for this brick red bag and made peace with it because it was gone and there was no point wanting it....and NOW you want to resurface and claim bills in my wallet that i don't have?! how dare you! how dare you!

the pics doesn't do it justice. if this bag is really "shockingly similar" to the scala colored bag i had wanted once before, then it's a delicious earthy red brick color that only looks better with age. ahhh, too bad so sad. so sad indeed...maybe it will go on sale at the end of the year and i will win a million dollars.

finally!! the weaving is mine!

i think i've drooled about bottega veneta bags for quite a while now. since december 2007 to be exact. there's something seriously delicious when you touch one. so soft and buttery....and the weaving is simply divine. after visiting bottega veneta boutiques off and on for the past year and/or catching myself molesting the bags as i generally find myself doing when i come across one, i took the plunge and veered off the chanel-only-path and bought myself a bottega veneta ferro sloane! the color is a dark shimmering grey and the leather is absolutely delicious. the weaving allows for a variation of shimmering tones and visual texture so "grey" is not simply "grey." there is a darkness and lightness to it depending on the weaving and the way light hits it. it even has a suede interior!! holy shit! with time, the bag will slouch a bit to form to my body. i'm expecting quite an excellent hobo look. ahhh, it is a GORGEOUS bag indeed. i definitely see another bottega bag in my future....far future since i'm clearly smitten by this leather. the ferro sloane is 100% well made, scrumptious, and dearly loved as much as my chanels (oh gawd i sound like a freak).

the sloane has been put to use numerous times now. i think it would be a shame not to. it's been in hibernation due to the rain, but the gorgeous grey will be ready to use once the weather warms up a bit. i loves it a lot!
obligatory ass shot.

finding another outlet

my friends and i went to morongo casino yesterday...hahaha...i have a story about that one, but it's not bag related so i'll save it for potential mindless chit chat fodder when i see you next. anyways, the cabazon outlets are out there too so OF COURSE, going with other chicks meant an outlet shopping spree! whooppeeee!!!!!....before we head out to the casino and lose our pants that is.

like everybody else, i like looking for deals....but perhaps not like everybody else, i don't mind dropping some hard earned cash to get whatever i want when it's feasible. anyways, while we were finding parking, we passed by a few stores and i saw a BOTTEGA VENETA store there. OMG. i got so excited! i was crossing my fingers that i would find something that i liked since you know how hard i've been jocking this design house. come on now! i even wrote a letter to santa asking for one!

*sigh* but alas, outlet stores are outlet stores for a reason. they house a lot of wares that are perhaps "unpopular" or are items phased out from seasons ago. once in a while, i think you might get lucky and find a good deal (my friend found a gucci wallet for her fiance at a great price), but other times, they probably aren't items you would have chosen anyways.

the bv's i saw there were such the case. the bag i saw with the interciatto weaving looks like this picture down below but was an OOGLY shade of lavender and the flower design just bugs. but omg, the leather is oh so soft! bv is outrageously priced for a reason. :(

i did not walk away with a bottega veneta :( i did walk away with some comfy blue shoes for school in one of the other cabazon stores. ah, sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some....just like my gambling experience at morongo casino.

faked out

i went over to a friend’s house for an easter sunday hot pot lunch with her family. since i’m 100% buddhist, easter sunday just means a regular day to me except for the occasional rabbit sightings.

when i got there, it appeared she had invited another chick to join them also. when i met the girl, my eyes immediately zoned in on her bag. OMG, is she carrying a BOTTEGA VENETA small hobo in pink leather?! am i meeting a kindred spirit? one that loves bags as much as i do?!

*sigh* upon further inspection (as much as can be done without looking creepy), i decided it was a fake. what were the indications you might wonder?

1) i cut right to the chase and asked her “is this a bottega veneta bag?” she shook her head.
2) it was a bad leather dye job even though the shape was correct.
3) and the crème de la crème of it all….it had the WRONG designer label on the bag. there was a small metal placard that said “francesco biasia.” the last time i checked, the bv bags had no labels at all. they are iconic because of the interciatto weaving….and francesco biasia…heck, he’s a completely different designer.

we found other things to talk about…but the love of bags was not one of them.

christmas once again.....

dear santa,

you don't know me, but i wrote to you once many years ago when i was in 3rd grade. at that time, i asked for a rubber stamp set which i didn't get by the way. well, i'm all grown up now and i'm not quite interested in rubber stamps anymore....however, i wonder if you can ask one of your elves to go to the bottega veneta boutique to pick up a fab bag for me in black? the intrecciato weaving still keeps me fascinated, but the price is teacher unfriendly so i haven't gone to saks or bloomies yet to model it....i'm trying to prevent purse frenzy. so for this christmas, i would like a bottega veneta shoulder bag in black. i included pictures just in case your elves need it for reference. thanks so much!

sincerely,
bagnatic

weave me one

i am somewhat intrigued by the bottega veneta bags. i don’t know if i’m calling upon some inner pacific islander in me that i did not know existed, but the weaving detail on the bv bags looks interesting. in general, weaving usually reminds me of the tropics, the phillipines, rattan chairs, and a nice blended alcoholic drink with an umbrella. i could also kill two purses with one purchase by getting a bv in red…but then again, it kind of straddles on the old lady look so am i aging myself prematurely by the bags i choose? oh forget it, i just checked the pricing for these woven babies. i would rather save it for another chanel or get a bv when i’m like 50. *sigh* cross that one off the list…
