which skin would you carry YOUR things in?

there are some outrageous skins being used for purses. when i think of it, it’s kind of nasty (not like toting my ipod around in a dead cow skin is any better, but at least in my mind, i’m utilizing EVERYTHING that is cow. like i eat a cow and after i eat it, i carry my wallet in its skin. i feel so one with nature, so wholistic…err.). as i peruse various bag designs, it becomes apparent that a few popular skins stand out which are called “exotics”: the ostrich, crocodile, python, and lizard skin to name a few. oohhh yucky. seriously, yuck.

the ostrich skin has these natural bumps like the miu miu one. don’t they look like acne? i haven’t touched one yet and maybe the texture would blow me away…but it just DOESN’T look appealing at all. then i think of those awkward long necked animals themselves with their tiny heads and i can’t imagine carrying my wallet in one….

the crocodile is another skin that is SUPER popular. the scales kind of freak me out. They range from super big scales to tiny ones depending on the bag (i think in terms of expense, it’s more coveted to own a small scaled croc bag because those would be the baby crocs). then i think of my one year stint in louisiana and how the crocs just swim around in the bayou and i think, yeah…let’s leave them there. i wouldn’t want to carry my ipod in one of them either.

the python and the lizard skins….now THAT’S wasteful. lizards are pretty puny right? i don’t know exactly what type of lizards are being used, but i remember seeing a few on my hikes and i think, they are small creatures…so to make a bag, one must use A LOT of lizards right? and the python? i don’t know about that too especially since i’m born in the snake year…it just seems wrong. maybe my wallet shouldn’t go in one of those either.

(top is lizard and the bottom one python)

i’m ok with the cow…maybe a goat if i ever get a balenciaga….but these others…I DON’T KNOW. they all seem a little wrong to me…ill.
